Scott Jordan, Consultant to HealthiosXchange and CEO of S. Jordan Associates, presented on WSGR's Crowdfunding panel with Andrew Farquharson, Managing Director - InCube Ventures, Greg Shearer, Managing Directors - Healthios, and Ben Lee, Director of Business Development - CircleUp. The break-out was moderated by Phil Oettinger, Partner - Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Over 100 participants learned how Crowdfunding (~Direct Investment Model) is reshaping the healthcare financing landscape. Currently, only 10% of Accredited Investors have investments in Private Placements given many factors including complexity of conducting due diligence, legal costs, high failure rates, and the capital intensive nature of the industry (risk of dilution or "orphaned" companies"). HealthiosXchange, a FINRA approved Social Media platform, overcomes many of these obstacles by providing investors the opportunity to diversify across a large number of healthcare companies (low investment thresholds) within an easy-to-use interface.
